Testimonials and reviews
Suzanne, Homeschooler
I signed up for a trial and discovered my son really liked the program and that it was helping him bring things together in terms of his reading, spelling and typing. Prior to using TTRS, my son had really struggled with writing things down. His brain would just get bogged down with the letter formation. Being able to type helped him use his strengths and gave him the kind of practice he needed to be more effective at his schoolwork. For example, my son really enjoys listening to audio books and reading along. This program took the same approach, as words were displayed on screen as they were read aloud.
We have had an excellent experience moving through the levels and seeing regular progress. My son has become more confident not only in his keyboarding skills, but also in his decoding and reading.
I love the integration of typing, spelling and reading in TTRS! My kids can do it independently with me just occasionally checking that they are using the correct fingers.
I like the fact that TTRS teaches reading skills, that it's laid out in very clear steps, with regular assessment, rewards and certificates, and that each module can be done in approx. 5 mins!
We are really happy with TTRS so far. It was easy to set up and get going on the modules. The support has been great, with helpful email suggestions about how to get more out of the program with different customizations and features. I can see us benefiting from this for a long time and have been spreading the word to other families in my area!
Frequently asked questions
How does TTRS teach reading? With TTRS, reading help is built into the course. Modules follow a carefully structured program of English phonics and learners improve by repeatedly reading, hearing and typing groups of words with common spelling patterns. Sight words are also woven into the curriculum, with repeat exposure leading to greater fluency and improvements in reading speed.
Why is it so effective? A child or young-adult who struggles with reading can simply focus on learning how to type with an audio component, instead of being embarrassed about using a program that provides literacy instruction.
Can we add our own words? Yes! TTRS users can create their own typing exercises using spelling words they are learning at school or other words they find hard to decode.
What if TTRS doesn’t work for my learner? Many learners who struggle with reading have found success using the TTRS Course. However, we understand that no two individuals are the same so if after some time you find your child is not making progress and the program is not a good fit, just get in touch with our team and we’ll send you a full refund.
My child struggles with self-directed learning. Will he or she need supervision using this program? It depends on the learner, but after a few modules most parents find their child is able to complete work independently. In fact, that’s one of the things parents like most about TTRS! The program opens directly to the last completed module, which minimizes the chances that time is lost looking through menus and encourages a quick start to every session.
Can the program help with reading comprehension? Yes! TTRS users can create their own reading exercises in the form of custom typing modules. Learners can also access our in-app dictionary and use TTRS Subjects where vocabulary, keyword definitions, and curriculum-based content is in focus.
What is unique about TTRS compared to other programs and apps? Our multi-sensory typing method involves hearing a sound, seeing it on the screen and typing the corresponding keys, combining diverse sensory input with an accessible platform to ensure success. The program also prioritizes accuracy over speed. When used in conjunction with tailored strategy instruction, TTRS can make a big difference in decoding and sight-reading ability.
